I am very busy at the moment on the campaign trail for two of my Fine Gael colleagues Tom Neville and Patrick O’Donovan, both of whom are running in the General Election.
They are both young vibrant men who have a very bright future ahead of them in politics and it is my sincere hope that they will be successful come February 26.
The weather has been very inclement over the last week or so – it is certainly the worst weather I have ever canvassed in! But it has been made easier by the kindness of people on the doorstep, offering cups of tea and shelter from Storm Imogen! It is greatly appreciated.
I have noticed a definite difference in the attitude of people on the doorsteps over the last number of weeks compared to when I was canvassing for the Local Elections a couple of years back. People are certainly more positive now and the feedback we are getting is that they want stability going forward.
The air of positivity is refreshing –and my colleagues at Fine Gael hope to keep it going for a further 5 years.
Without a doubt, it has been of huge benefit to Limerick to have two Ministers in the area – Michael Noonan and Jan O’Sullivan – and it is my hope that the two Ministers will go on to continue their good work in the next government.
